An elderly woman has died after she was struck by a car in a hit and run in South Brisbane.
The pedestrian was struck by a blue Toyota HiLux on Beenleigh Rd in Runcorn about 7.30pm on Sunday.
The 72-year-old woman from Kingston suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she later died.
The driver, who has not been identified, was travelling east on Beenleigh Rd when they struck the woman and drove away.
The vehicle involved was later found burnt out in a nearby suburb at Avalon Rd in Sheldon.
The driver was not found with the car.
Police are urging anyone with information that can identify the driver — including CCTV, dashcam or other footage from the area around the time of the crash — to come forward to assist their investigation.
