The Belmont Squash and Sport Centre has undergone a major $2.45 million transformation ahead of the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships, which will bring competitors from around the world to Perth later this month.
The redevelopment, part of the State Sporting Infrastructure Fund, has created a modern, accessible facility designed to support grassroots participation, elite training and major sporting events.
The upgrades include new international-standard glass-backed courts, improved lighting, refurbished changerooms and enhanced accessibility features, roof improvements, a new facade and upgraded amenities for players and spectators.
The centre will host the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships from August 30 to September 6, with athletes from across the globe to compete at the venue.
Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti said the redevelopment marked an exciting new chapter for squash in WA.
“Our $2.45m investment has transformed this facility into a modern, accessible venue that will support everyone from grassroots players through to elite athletes,” she said.
“These upgrades ensure WA has a world-class squash facility capable of hosting major tournaments, while providing fantastic opportunities for our local community to get active.”
Belmont MLA Cassie Rowe said the upgraded centre would provide a facility the community could be proud of.
“It’s fantastic to see the transformation of the WA State Squash Centre complete here in Belmont,” she said.
“This is a facility the whole community can be proud of, providing modern, inclusive spaces for players, officials and spectators alike.
“The upgraded centre will not only benefit local squash players but also attract visitors from across Australia.”
The project is part of the State Government’s broader PlayOn WA commitment to delivering modern sporting facilities while supporting WA’s growing reputation as a destination for major sporting events.
