An upmarket Perth nightclub has temporarily closed after structural damage was discovered in the roof, putting guests, performers and staff at risk if it isn’t fixed.

Geisha Bar has been a staple late-night party venue in Northbridge since 1999, but on Wednesday the team had to make the “disappointing” announcement that the club would be closed until further notice.

“Due to structural damage identified in a section of the venue’s roof, Geisha Bar will be temporarily closed while the issue is assessed and fully rectified,” a statement shared on Instagram read.

“A structural engineer has been engaged, and the venue will remain closed until we are satisfied this area is safe to reopen.

“We appreciate this is disappointing, but the safety of our team and customers must come first.

“We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

“Thank you for your patience, understanding, and ongoing support.

“The safety of our patrons, performers, and staff is our highest priority.”

It comes after Geisha was set to host London-based underground house music DJ and producer Joss Dean on Friday night from 10pm.

Regular club attendees understood the inconvenience but were still devastated to hear the news.

“Oh noo! Hopefully fixed up by the end of the month for PTK! Geisha is my favourite place to dance,” one person said.

Another said: “Sorry to hear guys that’s devastating.”

“Cause Perth blew the roof off this legendary place 🪩💃🕺 – see ya when you’re back,” a third joked.
