Ravi Kishan is officially having a moment on the internet, and the actor-politician is happy to play along. Reacting to the flood of memes made from his old and new videos, Kishan said he has been following the trend himself and even liking the memes. From Jaldi The Late and Home From Work to the now-viral Money follows clip, his unmistakable expressions and dramatic delivery have found a new fanbase, particularly among Gen Z.
The 57-year-old actor believes the trend has also introduced him to a younger audience, particularly Gen Z. According to Kishan, people have connected with him because he comes across as authentic and does not shy away from his imperfections. He also revealed that he has been keeping up with the memes himself and even liking them.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Kishan said, “Something entirely different is happening, this is madness. It is the month of Shravan, and when Mahadev showers his blessings, this happens. It has never happened before for anyone – actor or politician – in this country. It is madness. People say all sorts of things to become popular, and my vow of silence became even more popular.”
What seems to amuse Kishan most is how organically the trend has grown. Several official social media accounts, including those of the BJP, Delhi Police and the Maharashtra government, have also joined in on the meme trend.
“The best part is that this is happening organically. Even the BJP handle, Delhi Police and the Maharashtra Government have made memes. I am personally following it all and dropping a like as well,” he said.
Ravi Kishan on his Gen Z fan base
Kishan said the sudden attention has changed the way a new generation sees him.
“No one had discovered me before. Now they want to see me more and know me more. Gen Z has accepted me as their own. I really want to thank them and salute their creativity,” he said.
The actor has also picked up several new titles online, with users referring to him as ‘Lord Ravi’, ‘God Ravi’ and even ‘today’s Osho’.
Responding to the nicknames, Kishan said people were drawn to what they saw as his unfiltered personality.
“Out of love, they call me Lord Ravi, God Ravi, today’s Osho and whatnot. They love real people; they connect with my imperfections, which makes them feel I am one among them. Everyone makes mistakes, so do I, and I accept that as well. I speak from the heart, and people are liking my truth,” he said.
‘My family and I are just speechless’
The unexpected popularity has also caught Kishan’s family off guard. He said his mother and other family members have been surprised by the scale of the response.
“My 85-year-old mother, my family members and I are just speechless. Their prayers have increased and my faith in Mahadev gives me the inner strength to remain at peace,” he said.
Kishan also reflected on the role of social media in connecting people, particularly at a time when many feel isolated.
“Somewhere, I feel Instagram has become a very powerful medium. People are very lonely in their personal lives, and when something on social media connects with them or entertains them, they connect with it and accept it as family,” he said.
As his clips continue to circulate, Kishan appears happy to let the internet have its fun. Rather than distancing himself from the meme wave, he has been watching it unfold alongside the very audience driving it.
