A grandmother’s sweet conversation with what she believed was a real foreign woman on the phone has left the internet smiling, only for the “woman” on the other end to turn out to be ChatGPT’s AI voice assistant.
Instagram user Abhiruchi Bhatti shared the heartwarming video on her account, showing her grandmother having a conversation with the AI while seemingly unaware that she was speaking to a chatbot.

In the video, Abhiruchi pointed the camera towards her grandmother and told her that a foreign woman was on the phone and wanted to learn Hindi and speak with her. She then handed the phone to her grandmother, who immediately began chatting with the AI as though she were speaking to a real person.
The grandmother appeared genuinely interested in getting to know the woman on the other end. She asked her how she was and posed questions about her, continuing the conversation with a warm smile.
At several points, she was seen blushing and laughing as she spoke sweetly to the AI, completely immersed in the interaction.
What made the moment particularly endearing was how naturally she treated the voice on the phone as another person. There was no hesitation or suspicion as she continued the conversation, smiling throughout and responding with the warmth one might show while meeting someone new.
Abhiruchi admitted in the caption that her grandmother genuinely believed there was a real person on the other side and said she did not have the heart to tell her otherwise. She described the moment as a reminder of the innocence of a generation that could still find magic in the simplest things.
