Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday said the state government was preparing a new tourism policy and invited business groups to invest in hotels and related infrastructure. He made the appeal during an event organised by the Vishva Umiya Foundation in Washington as part of his visit to the US and Canada.
Patel is in North America to invite industrialists, investors and technology leaders to take part in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2027 and invest in the state. During the visit, he has been projecting Gujarat as a growth engine of India and outlining its plans in sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centres and biotechnology.

At the community event, Patel said, “The government is coming out with a new tourism policy. I welcome you to invest in setting up hotels and related infrastructure in the state.”
He also held meetings at the World Bank and with business leaders from the Indian diaspora as part of efforts to attract investments ahead of the upcoming global investors summit. Patel attended an interactive session at the World Bank, where he made a presentation on Gujarat International Finance Tec-City, or GIFT City.
Patel was welcomed by members of the Gujarati diaspora led by the Vishva Umiya Foundation after arriving from San Francisco, where he had highlighted the state’s plans to become a global hub for semiconductors, AI, data and biotechnology. In his interactions in the US, he underscored Gujarat’s commitment to helping achieve the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 through ‘Viksit Gujarat-2047’.
The chief minister said Gujarat would focus on new-age sectors such as semiconductors, AI, data centres and biotechnology, and expressed confidence that the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2027 would provide a strong platform to advance these goals. The last Vibrant Gujarat summit was held in January 2024, and the 11th edition of the biennial event is scheduled for 2027.
