The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has put its recruitment process for 235 vacant posts on hold and ordered a high-level inquiry after candidates raised complaints and objections over the provisional examination results.
The decision comes after questions were raised over unusually high marks secured by some candidates, including scores of 200 out of 200 in the MMRDA recruitment examination.

India Today was the first to report the development.
The examination was conducted online by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). A total of 26,749 candidates applied for the recruitment, while 20,459 appeared for the examination.
THREE-MEMBER COMMITTEE TO EXAMINE COMPLAINTS
MMRDA has constituted a three-member high-level committee to independently examine the complaints and objections received from candidates.
The panel will be headed by Johnny Joseph, former Chief Secretary of Maharashtra. IIT Bombay professors Shyamprasad Kargade and Daska Satyanarayana Murthy will be the other members.
The committee members have experience in conducting major competitive examinations, including JEE (Advanced), UCEED, CEED, JAM and GATE. Johnny Joseph also brings extensive experience in state administration.
Candidates have been given 30 days to submit their complaints, objections, supporting evidence and relevant documents to MMRDA at vacancymmrda@mailmmrda.maharashtra.gov.in.
QUESTIONS OVER 200/200 SCORES
The provisional MMRDA results had triggered questions after some candidates allegedly recorded scores of 200 out of 200. The issue had also been raised in connection with candidates who reportedly had lower scores in a BMC examination conducted shortly before the MMRDA test.
However, MMRDA’s recruitment records state that the marks displayed in the results are normalised scores and do not necessarily represent the raw marks obtained by candidates. For examinations conducted across multiple sessions, the authority used the Mean Standard Deviation Method for normalisation.
The 200/200 score controversy was therefore among the issues that prompted candidates to seek greater clarity over the examination and result process. The allegations have not been independently established.
MMRDA SEEKS EXPLANATION FROM TCS
MMRDA has also sought an explanation from TCS regarding the issues raised by the candidates.
The authority said the recruitment examination was conducted through the government-approved agency and that complaints received after the provisional results would now be independently examined by the high-level committee.
The committee will examine the complaints and supporting material submitted by candidates before submitting its final report.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS SUSPENDED
MMRDA has made it clear that no further action will be taken in the recruitment process until the committee completes its examination.
