A large section of road suddenly caved in at IFFCO Chowk, one of Gurugram’s busiest intersections, on the stretch connecting MG Road towards Gurugram, creating a roughly 25-foot-wide pit and triggering panic among commuters.
The incident occurred during a busy period, raising fears of a major accident. However, no vehicle was reported to have fallen into the collapsed section and no injuries were reported.

Gurugram Traffic Police personnel and officers rushed to the spot after receiving information about the road collapse. The affected portion was immediately cordoned off with barricades to keep vehicles and pedestrians away from the damaged stretch.
Traffic officials also regulated the movement of vehicles and diverted traffic where necessary to prevent any untoward incident. Police said the situation was brought under control promptly and commuters were kept at a safe distance from the damaged section.
The exact cause of the collapse is yet to be established. A damaged or leaking underground pipeline is suspected to have weakened the road, officials said.
The traffic police alerted senior officials of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) following the incident. Teams from the concerned departments reached the site to assess the damage and begin repair work.
Authorities have started measures to fill the pit and restore the damaged road. Traffic police officials remain at the site to manage vehicular movement and ensure the safety of commuters until the road is repaired.
