Gwyneth Paltrow is “really proud” after her daughter Apple Martin landed her first movie role just weeks after finishing college.
Apple, 22, graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee at the end of April and it was later revealed she’s going to be starting work on her first movie project appearing opposite Jude Law – who starred with Gwyneth in 1999 movie The Talented Mr. Ripley – as well as Owen Wilson, Kieran Culkin
and Penelope Cruz.
Gwyneth has now shared her pride as her daughter follows in her Hollywood footsteps. During an appearance on the TODAY show, Gwyneth said: “I am really proud of her, it’s really thrilling. Jude Law’s in it and Owen Wilson.”
The Iron Man star also expressed her pride in her son Moses, 20, who is following in his Coldplay star dad Chris Martin’s footsteps by pursuing a career in music with his band People I’ve Met.
Gwyneth added: “He’s signed to Interscope Records. He’s in an amazing band they’re called People I’ve Met and he’s such a nice boy. “
When asked what advice she would give to her two kids as they prepare for careers in the entertainment industry, she said: “[I would tell them] that it’s hard. It’s a difficult road but it’s worth pursuing if that’s their absolute truth.”
She added: “[And] not read anything about themselves.”
Apple will be starring in the new movie from director Nancy Meyers, who previously revealed the working title is Paris Paramount inspired by a quote from director Ernst Lubitsch and it’s about a group of filmmakers.
In a post on Instagram, she explained: “There’s been a lot written about my new film. Here’s one thing I can easily clear up – and that’s the title – PARIS PARAMOUNT.
“It’s from a quote by the brilliant and elegant comedy director (dare I say creator of the romantic comedy) Ernst Lubitsch. The movie is about a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do. As always, Lubitsch said it best.”
She added a shot of the quote from Lubitsch, which read: “I’ve been to Paris, France and I’ve been to Paris, Paramount and frankly, I prefer Paris Paramount.”
Nancy – who co-wrote two Father of the Bride movies and directed hit films including What Women Want, Something’s Gotta Give and The Holiday, recently hinted she’s about to starting filming her new feature by sharing a snap of her director’s chair on the set on Instagram and writing: “So close to starting.”
She also shared a picture of the Warner Bros stage set where it’s being filmed revealing other films previously shot on the same stage include Blade Runner, Ocean’s Eleven and Casablanca.
In another post, Nancy shared her delight to reteaming with Kieran Culkin again after previously working with him when he was a child on 1991’s Father Of The Bride.
She shared a picture of the actor as a kid posing with her young daughter and wrote: “Kieran Culkin and my daughter @halliemeyersshyer on the set of FATHER OF THE BRIDE. 1991. And now I’m working with Kieran again! 35 years later.”
