The family of an 11-year-old girl killed in a horror crash in Adelaide’s south say their hearts are shattered as they pay tribute to a truly special child who was smart, loving, curious and full of life.
Delilah Peterson, 11, was the passenger in a Nissan sedan with her mum, Sarah, 35, when it was involved in a collision with a Subaru station wagon on Commercial Rd at Moana about 6.45pm on Tuesday.
Her mum was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, but Delilah did not survive and died at the scene.
A Seaford Meadows man, 37, driving the Subaru was discharged from hospital after suffering minor injuries in the crash.
Finlay Thompson set up a GoFundMe to support Delilahs’ family with funeral costs following the terrible tragedy.
“Our hearts are broken as we come together to ask for support for our beautiful 11-year-old girl, Delilah, who was tragically taken from us far too soon,” she said.
“Delilah was a truly special little girl. She was extremely smart, loving, curious and full of life. She loved so much about the world around her and had so many dreams and things she wanted to experience in life.
“At just 11 years old, she had her whole future ahead of her and so much more love, laughter and memories still to make.
“Her beautiful parents, Sarah and Kyle, love their precious daughter more than words could ever explain.
“Their hearts, along with the hearts of everyone who loved Delilah, are shattered.”
Ms Thompson said Delilah was everyone’s favourite person not only in their family but in the community and had touched the lives of so many people who cherished her.
“She had a brightness that will never be forgotten,” she said.
“Her smile, her personality, her intelligence and the beautiful person she was will stay in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.”
Destineey Ansell also paid tribute to Delilah, saying on social media she would miss her so much.
“She was only 11 and so sweet,” ,” Ms Ansell said.
“She was so young she didn’t deserve to die, she didn’t have much of a life. I wanted to see her grow old, wanted to see her make lots of friends. I’ll forever miss her, she was such a good person
