Henry Cavill and Kevin Hart will co-star in a new spy comedy for Netflix.
The Man of Steel actor and the 46-year-old comedian will portray rival spies who meet in a Lamaze class when their wives become friends, leading to chaos as their “double lives collide”, according to The Wrap.
A synopsis states: “Their double lives collide in unexpectedly hilarious and dangerous ways, forcing the two men to reluctantly become confidantes and partners on the road to fatherhood.”
The untitled project is based on a short story by Sean Lewis and will be directed by McG.
Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps and Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort are producing the untitled film, with the script written by Adam and Aaron Nee, who penned the Amazon MGM Studios’ film Masters of the Universe, and Jonathan Tropper.
Hart will also produce via his Hartbeat banner, along with Luke Kelly-Clyne and Bryan Smiley.
Levy and Dan Levine will produce for 21 Laps alongside Reynolds, George Dewey and Patrick Gooing for Maximum Effort. Emily Morris will executive produce for 21 Laps.
McG’s last five movies have been for Netflix, including The Babysitter and sequel The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Rim of the World, The Uglies.
He also directed body-switching family comedy Family Switch, starring Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms.
Meanwhile, Henry, 42 – who got through to the final audition stage for 2006’s Casino Royale – recently admitted he feels too old now to ever play suave super-spy James Bond but would be interested in taking on the role of a Bond villain.
Henry told Heat magazine: “I didn’t turn the role down – it just wasn’t the right time. What actor wouldn’t love to be Bond?
“But at 42, I’d probably be considered a bit old to start now. I would love to be a Bond villain, though.
“If it was the right character, I think that would be fascinating to explore.”
After he missed out on playing James Bond Henry landed the fictional role of Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel.
Depending on the project, Henry can be strict about his diet, adding: “For Superman, it could be 5,000-calorie days of pure protein and in the gym six days a week.
“When I am not filming, it obviously isn’t as intense as that, but I still try to eat well and keep fit.”
