A popular British influencer has announced a shock split from her partner of eight years, after revealing their engagement came to an end earlier this year.
Following months of online speculation, May Ridts revealed she had separated from long-term partner and model Nathan Nuyts after the pair dated for almost a decade.
In an Instagram story shared with her more than 850,000 followers on Sunday, the 27-year-old revealed the couple had gone their separate ways after getting engaged in January last year.
“There’s been a lot of speculation around my personal life over the past few months, and I’ve chosen to stay quiet as some things need to be personally dealt with before making online statement,” she began.
“I feel ready to address it now. In July, my engagement came to an end.”
The content creator, known for her fashion, travel, and lifestyle videos on TikTok and Instagram, went on to address the rumours that had circulated in recent weeks.
She continued: “I know there have been questions and, understandably, a lot of curiosity around what happened.
“I’ve made the decision not to share the details of my relationship or its ending and that’s something I would like to keep private.
“I also know many of you have been sending me things you’ve seen, heard or found out, and I truly appreciate that it comes from a place of love and concern.
“But in all honesty, I don’t want to know, I don’t want to see anything, hear anything or receive any updates.
“I’ve made my decision to move forward, and I don’t want to give any more energy to something that is no longer a part of my life.”
The social media influencer, who cemented her online presence with travel vlogs alongside her now former partner, says she’s looking to focus on herself over the coming months.
She continued: “I am taking this time to reconnect with myself and rediscover who I am, what makes me happy and what I want my life to look like.
“I’m excited to find myself again, and I’m even more excited to see where this next chapter takes me.”
