Tucker Budzyn was more than a golden retriever on their feeds for millions of people online. He was a familiar face who brought laughter and comfort and now, fans are grieving his death at eight after cancer complications.
Tucker’s owner, Courtney Budzyn, announced his death in a heartbreaking video on Saturday, September 5. He died on Wednesday, September 2, less than a week after Courtney had revealed that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma.

“I thought that was the last sad video I was gonna make, but it’s not. Tucker passed away Wednesday, unexpectedly,” Courtney said.
Just days earlier, there had been hope. Courtney said Tucker appeared to be doing “really well” with his cancer treatment. But the situation changed suddenly after he developed lymphoma in his intestine.
Courtney rushed him to a vet that morning, where Tucker was given antibiotics and fluid. But his condition continued to deteriorate.
“I want you to know I tried to do everything I could. I did everything,” she said.
His temperature kept rising despite treatment, leaving Courtney with an unbearable decision.
“His temperature kept rising, and there was nothing, nothing was changing it. We had to let him go,” she said, before adding, “Tucker, I love you so much.”

The grief was not simply that of losing a pet. For Courtney, Tucker had become a part of her life in a way that words could barely capture.
“There’s nothing in this world that I wouldn’t have done for him. He was literally part of me. He was part of my soul. It feels like I lost a body part,” she said.
Courtney adopted Tucker in 2018 and soon began sharing his photographs and videos online. His expressive face, playful antics and unmistakable personality eventually earned him millions of followers across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.
Now, those followers are mourning him too.
Tributes have poured in across social media, with fans sharing their favourite Tucker memories and thanking Courtney for allowing them to be part of his life. For many, his videos were a source of comfort and laughter.
Tucker may have belonged to one family, but somewhere along the way, he became everyone’s dog. And for a grieving internet community, saying goodbye feels heartbreakingly personal.
