Apple is getting ready for its biggest product event of the year. And this time, there could be more than just new iPhones and accessories to look forward to. The event will also mark a major change at the top, as John Ternus takes over as Apple CEO from Tim Cook on September 1. The company has confirmed that its next event will take place on September 9, with the presentation starting at 10:30pm IST. The invite carries the tagline “Surprise and shine”.

So, what can we expect from Apple this time? The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to take centre stage, but the bigger attraction could be Apple’s first foldable iPhone, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra. New Apple Watch models and AirPods are also expected to make an appearance. With Ternus set to lead Apple just days before the event, the September 9 launch could mark the beginning of a new chapter for the company.
Let’s take a closer look at everything Apple is expected to unveil on September 9 from its Cupertino campus.
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are the safest bets for the September 9 event. Apple is reportedly keeping the overall design familiar this year, with most of the changes happening under the hood and around the cameras and display.
The Pro series is expected to feature Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, a smaller Dynamic Island and the company’s C2 modem. There could also be a simplified Camera Control button and new colour options, including a dark cherry and light blue shade.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max could get a few extra upgrades of its own. Reports suggest it may be slightly thicker to accommodate a larger battery, while a variable-aperture main camera could also be exclusive to the Pro Max.
Now, you might be wondering: what about the vanilla iPhone and the second-generation iPhone Air? Apple is reportedly changing how it launches the iPhone this year. The regular iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and the next-generation iPhone Air are expected to arrive later, potentially in the early 2027, leaving the September event focused on the Pro models and the foldable.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone could steal the show
While Pros will be the highlight, the biggest surprise may be the long-rumoured foldable iPhone. Apple is expected to use a book-style design— something like the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, with reports pointing to an inner display of around 7.6 to 7.8 inches and an outer screen of around 5.3 to 5.5 inches.
The device is widely expected to be called iPhone Ultra, although the name is not confirmed. It could have a titanium frame, two rear cameras and front cameras for both displays. Apple may also use Touch ID built into the power button instead of Face ID.
And this will be anything but easier on the pocket. Current speculations put the starting price at around $1,999, with some estimates going as high as $2,500. Apple could also initially limit availability to select markets.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4
The iPhone may get most of the attention, but Apple is also expected to refresh its smartwatch line-up. The Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are tipped to arrive with faster chips, better battery life and new health and fitness features.
The Series 12 could also get a ceramic case option, while the Ultra 4 is expected to bring further fitness and satellite-related improvements. Neither model is expected to receive a major redesign.
AirPods 5 and more
Apple could also have some audio and smart-home products ready for the event. Reports hint to new entry-level AirPods 5, potentially with versions both with and without active noise cancellation. Camera-equipped AirPods have been rumoured too, but those are now expected later rather than at this event.
On the smart-home side, Apple could introduce a new Apple TV 4K, an updated HomePod mini and a new Home Hub with a screen. Siri and Apple Intelligence are expected to play a bigger role across these products, although some of these announcements could be saved for another event.
