Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi is cancer-free.
The 38-year-old reality TV star – who is best known for her appearances on Jersey Shore – was diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer earlier this year, but Snooki has now confirmed that she no longer has any evidence of the disease.
She told People: “As of right now, I am cancer-free. They got everything out.”
Snooki described her recovery as “a long road” – but she’s now feeling optimistic about the future.
The TV star said: “I avoided getting my pap smear for a long time. And once I finally went to the doctors, I feel like it’s just been week after week of doing a procedure, then another procedure, and then a hysterectomy.
“So it’s been a journey and a long road, but I’m happy that I’m on the other side of it and everything is going good.”
Despite this, Snooki acknowledges that she still needs to take things slowly.
She reflected: “I’m trying to listen to my body and give my body grace and not go crazy. There’s days where I do too much and then I just feel exhausted and I start getting pains. But other than that, I’m finally starting to feel better. I feel like I’m almost getting back to myself.”
Snooki underwent surgery in July, after being diagnosed with stage one cervical cancer at the beginning of the year.
Speaking on It’s Happening with Snooki and Joey, she shared: “I didn’t realise how f****** awful it was gonna be. Not to scare anybody that is going to do this. You have to.”
The podcast was recorded on “day 17” of Snooki’s recovery, as she added: “The last two days have been miserable. It hurts and I’m over it. I’m not comfortable, and it’s not an easy recovery.”
Snooki also shared details of her journey on social media.
She said in an Instagram video: “I’m being very vulnerable here. But I feel like in this journey, I’ve been very vulnerable in general. So, I just want to keep it going.
“Because, you know, it’s a scary thing. And a lot of us women deal with it. And no one really talks about it. So, I’m here to give that platform for all of us ladies.”
