A Delhi-bound IndiGo Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner returned to London Heathrow early Wednesday after a technical issue was detected shortly after take-off, the airline said.
The aircraft was operating IndiGo flight 6E04 from London Heathrow to New Delhi and had been airborne for around an hour before turning back.
The flight took off at around 12.40 am IST on Wednesday and returned to London Heathrow at around 2 am, according to the flight-tracking data.

In a statement, IndiGo said a technical issue was detected shortly after take-off on September 22 and that the pilots decided to return to London in line with standard operating procedures.
“The pilots decided to turn back and landed the aircraft safely at London Heathrow Airport,” the airline said.
The aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance checks and will resume operations after securing the necessary clearances, IndiGo said.
The airline also offered the passengers hotel accommodation and arranged seats on the next available flights to help them reach their destination.
“The safety of our customers, crew, and aircraft remains our top priority at IndiGo,” the airline said.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident earlier this week, an IndiGo flight from Agartala to Delhi was diverted to Lucknow’s Chowdhury Charan Singh Airport after a smoke warning was detected in the aircraft’s cargo area, according to an official statement.
IndiGo flight 6E6504 landed safely at Lucknow Airport at 6.29 pm with 103 passengers and six crew members on board. Airport authorities said no untoward incident was reported.
Following the warning, Lucknow Airport activated its emergency response protocols and deployed fire and rescue teams, ambulances and terminal support to ensure the safe handling of the aircraft, passengers and crew.
