The prime accused in the murder of 17-year-old Surya Chauhan was killed after an encounter with the Ghaziabad Police late on Saturday night, bringing a dramatic turn to a case that had sparked outrage in the region.
According to police, the accused, identified as Asad, had allegedly murdered Surya Chauhan on Bakrid. Acting on a tip-off, Ghaziabad Police learned that Asad was planning to visit Khora to collect money from a friend before fleeing the city.

A police team laid a trap in the area and kept surveillance on the suspected route. Officials said Asad arrived at the designated location on a motorcycle along with another individual.
When police personnel attempted to intercept and stop the duo, Asad allegedly opened fire on the team. In the exchange that followed, police retaliated and Asad sustained gunshot injuries.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment, while a police constable was also injured during the firing. Authorities said the constable’s condition was stable.
Police recovered the motorcycle used by the accused as well as a country-made pistol allegedly used in the attack. However, the second person accompanying Asad managed to flee from the scene and a search operation has been launched to trace and arrest him.
Officials later confirmed that Asad succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
