Martha Stewart has sent social media into overdrive after cheekily hinting about releasing nude photographs of herself at the age of 85.
The lifestyle and domestic empress took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a sultry selfie in which she pouts for the camera.
“I’ve been thinking about releasing my nudes,” the caption read.
The comments section of the post immediately blew up with fans and fellow celebrities egging her on, with Playboy and OnlyFans also getting involved.
“Have your people call our people?” the team at Playboy wrote.
The OnlyFans team commented: “Martha Stewart Living has entered the chat.”
Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran said: “If you do it, I’ll do it!”
TV personality Tyler Cameron said: “You’ll set the world on fire Martha!”
However, some fans were quick to see through her racy announcement, with one person saying: “I’m sure this is a lipstick tease, but this caption is marketing gold, honey.”
And they were right.
Stewart later revealed in another Instagram post that she had in fact tricked her fans.
“My ‘nudes’ are just a ‘ploy’ they are actually fabulous lip serums to wear day and night to keep your lips as lustrous and soft as your skin,” she wrote in the caption, alongside a video of her applying the new product from her skincare line, Elm Biosciences.
She launched the ageing-focused brand in September 2025.
The culinary icon’s ploy comes after she made history in 2023 as the oldest swimsuit model to grace the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
On the cover, she wore a low-cut white bathing suit and orange wrap and modelled several different swimsuits for the magazine spread.
She was 81 at the time, and said she was “thrilled” to star in the issue alongside fellow cover stars Megan Fox, Brooks Nader, and Kim Petras.
“My motto has always been: ‘When you’re through changing, you’re through,’” she wrote at the time.
“So I thought, why not be up for this opportunity of a lifetime? I hope this cover inspires you to challenge yourself to try new things, no matter what stage of life you are in.”
She also appeared on the Today Show to discuss the cover and said she doesn’t think about “age very much,” but jumped at the opportunity because she learned it would be historic.
