Michelle Pfeiffer has no plans to retire.

Although the Oscar-nominated actress – whose memorable roles include Scarface, Batman Returns and Hairspray – recently admitted she “never” wants to star in another movie, she insisted that she has no intention of quitting Hollywood.

Michelle told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show: “No … I mean, it’s the most ridiculous thing. They’re always saying I’m retiring. Where does it say I’m retiring?

“All that I said was that I really love working with an ensemble cast.”

Referring to Pfeiffer’s previous comments where she said: “I never want to star in another movie,” Fallon asked: “Did you know you would get in trouble when you said that?”

She replied: “I knew the minute it came out of my mouth. Of course, I want to star in another movie.”

Pfeiffer recently admitted she has found a new appreciation for ensemble television projects.

Speaking at The Hollywood Reporter’s THR x Apple TV’s Leading the Narrative: The Women of Apple TV, Pfeiffer made her feelings clear about taking on future leading film roles.

She said: “I never want to star in another movie, I swear to God.

“I only want to do ensemble pieces. It’s so much more fun, I love it so much.”

Pfeiffer’s recent television work includes Margo’s Got Money Troubles and The Madison, with the actress explaining that she has been drawn to the depth and complexity of modern TV characters.

She said: “I’ve just been so bowled over by the female performances on television and honestly, they’re just really owning TV.”

The actress praised the opportunity to portray flawed and layered characters, adding that the themes explored in Margo’s Got Money Troubles particularly resonated with her.

“I love how complicated and flawed all these characters are,” Pfeiffer explained, referencing the well-known quote often attributed to Robin Williams about showing kindness because everyone is facing unseen struggles.

She added: “That kind of, for me, sums up the show and the message of the show, and I’m really proud to be a part of it.”

While Pfeiffer now feels at home with ensemble television, she previously admitted she had some hesitation about taking on comedy.

The actress starred in the 2025 Christmas comedy Oh. What. Fun., directed by Michael Showalter, and revealed she initially felt nervous about the project.

She said: “I also don’t ever think that I’m funny.”

However, Pfeiffer said her confidence grew throughout filming as she developed trust with her director and became more willing to experiment.
