The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has stepped up its probe into absconding Dhanbad gangster Prince Khan, with a team of the central agency reaching the Jharkhand district to gather information about his criminal network, local associates, financial activities and suspected links to Pakistan.
The NIA team met senior cop Prabhat Kumar and sought key details related to Prince Khan’s criminal history and the network operating around him. The development comes as Dhanbad Police continues its crackdown on the fugitive gangster and people suspected of being linked to his operations.

The NIA’s intervention could significantly widen the scope of the investigation, with the agency now examining not only Prince Khan’s criminal activities but also the channels through which his network may be operating and being financed.
NIA LOOKS INTO PRINCE KHAN’S NETWORK
According to the information available, the NIA team has begun examining links involving Prince Khan’s associates, suspected operatives, old contacts and financial network in Wasseypur and other parts of Dhanbad.
The agency is trying to establish how the network functions on the ground and identify the financial sources behind its activities.
Investigators are also examining the Pakistan connection linked to Prince Khan. However, the nature and extent of any such connection are part of the investigation and have not been established as fact.
POLICE CRACKDOWN CONTINUES
Prince Khan, a wanted gangster from Wasseypur, has remained a key target of Dhanbad Police, which has been taking action against his network.
The police are also focusing on people suspected of helping operate or sustain criminal activities linked to the fugitive gangster.
The investigation is not limited to identifying individual associates. Authorities are also looking into the broader ecosystem that allegedly allows organised crime, extortion and threats against businessmen to continue in the area.
The NIA probe could therefore bring greater scrutiny on the financial and logistical channels allegedly supporting Prince Khan’s network.
NO LENIENCY FOR EXTORTION, THREATS’
Senior police officer Mohammad Yakub said Prince Khan’s network was being continuously investigated and action was being taken against people linked to his activities.
Speaking about the NIA probe, Yakub said the agency’s team had reached Dhanbad in connection with the investigation into Prince Khan and that the district police was cooperating with the central agency.
Yakub also said police were taking steps to ensure better coordination with people who approach them with complaints and to enable swift action.
He said those demanding extortion, threatening businessmen or attempting to create an atmosphere of fear in the area would face strict action.
The police, he said, would not show any leniency in such cases.
BUSINESS COMMUNITY ASSURED OF SECURITY
With allegations of extortion and threats forming a key part of the police’s focus, authorities have also sought to reassure residents and business organisations.
Yakub said businessmen, organisations and ordinary citizens seeking security or assistance would be provided with the necessary support by the police.
He appealed to people not to be afraid and to approach the police with their complaints.
The assurance comes as investigators examine the broader network allegedly associated with Prince Khan and the means through which it may have continued to operate despite sustained police action.
