A student has thanked Olivia Rodrigo for “paying for my final semester of college”.
According to Jamie McCausey, the Stupid Song star “reached out” to her “privately”, after watching a video in which Jamie admitted she was struggling to fund the last term of her college experience.
In a video shared on Instagram and TikTok, Jamie said: “Olivia first commented on my birthday video and wished me a happy birthday. That alone meant so much to me.
“Then I made a video explaining how I was a first-generation student struggling to pay my final semester’s tuition. I wasn’t asking people to pay for it. I wasn’t asking for pity. I was just being honest.
“Olivia reached out to me privately. She told me she loved my videos, and I was a source of positivity and light for her. And she wanted to help me graduate. And she did.”
Jamie continued to praise Olivia for showing “kindness to a stranger”, adding: “You’ve always been about giving back to others, and that’s something I’ll take with me forever.”
She also paid tribute to hotel heiress Paris Hilton and TV star West Wilson for making her “feel like I belong”.
Jamie said: “You’ve told me that I make you feel less alone, that I’m relatable. You’ve shared your personal struggles with me. To this day, many of you walk up to me in public or send me messages, and they all mean the world to me.”
She concluded her video by reminding followers that TikTok can be a “source of positivity for others”.
Jamie said: “And all of you did the same for me. You helped me in ways I never asked for, and I was almost scared to accept.
“So if you’re watching this and you wonder, does that small act of kindness matter? It does. Send the message, pay for the coffee, pay for the car behind you, or just smile at someone. You never know the difference it will make.”
In another comment Jamie revealed that Olivia had donated $5,000 to her, adding: “I was 2 classes from graduating. She could have given me 50 dollars and I would have been over the moon.”
