A beloved specialty restaurant in Western Australia has announced it will close its doors in 2027, leaving staff “saddened” by the shock update.

C Restaurant in Perth, a revolving venue with a view of the city skyline, has announced it will be closing from January 31, 2027.

The announcement follows the news that St Martin’s Tower, the building which houses the restaurant, will be redeveloped and converted into a hotel.

C Restaurant owner Olivier Letrone said working for the restaurant has been “one of the great privileges of my life” and expressed his sadness at the closing of the business.

“I’m enormously proud that our entire team, more than 90 people, has chosen to stay with us right through to the very end,” he said.

“That loyalty is humbling, and it’s the very reason C Restaurant has thrived for so long.

“We intend to finish the way we’ve always operated: as a family, and at the top of our game.”

Mr Letrone said telling his team was one the “hardest conversations of my career” but said he was looking to find a new location for his business to continue growing.

“For more than 20 years, C Restaurant has meant more to me than just a business; it has been one of the great privileges of my life.”

“We told the team in person … the grace and understanding they showed in that moment said everything about the people who make this place what it is, and it only deepened the emotion in the room.“

“We’re already working on a new venue, though it may not necessarily be fine dining … what I can promise is that the team’s passion for hospitality isn’t going anywhere.”

Ann-Marie Gill, C Restaurant’s general manager, said the time she has spent working for the restaurant has been “some of the most rewarding of my career”.

“Working alongside such a dedicated team and helping create memorable experiences for our guests has been a real privilege,” she said

“Although it’s difficult to say goodbye, I’ll always be proud to have been part of C Restaurant’s story.”

C Restaurant has been in operation for more than 20 years, after it was first established in 2001.

It was taken over from the previous business, Hilite 33, who were the first occupants of the timeless revolving venue from 1978.

It was also one of Australia’s earliest revolving restaurants.

The restaurant sits 33 stories high and prides itself on numerous accolades including countless Gold Plate Awards and a place on the WA Good Food Guide’s Icons List.

“Our focus, right up until the very last day of trading, is exactly what it’s always been: beautiful food, warm service and experiences our guests will remember,” Mr Letrone said.

“Every service between now and January 31 is a chance for Perth to come back, enjoy the room one more time, and raise a glass to what we’ve shared up here in the sky.“

“While its doors will close on 31 January 2027, the memories made here will endure long after the restaurant completes its final turn.”
