PV Sindhu has been spotted wearing a device on her forehead while competing at the BWF World Championships 2026 in New Delhi. The small wearable, called Temple, sits on the side of the forehead and is designed to track what is happening with blood flow to the brain.

The device has been drawing attention because it was developed by Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal. Goyal previously spoke about Temple on Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out podcast, where the wearable and its focus on brain health generated plenty of interest.

This is not the first time Sindhu has been spotted wearing Temple; earlier this April, during the badminton team world championships, the Thomas and Uber Cup, she was seen wearing the same device.

Temple is a small wearable that clips onto the side of the forehead. It is designed to continuously monitor cerebral blood flow and other signals linked to how the brain is functioning.

According to the information available about the device, Temple tracks real-time cerebral blood flow, oxygenation, cognitive load and entropy, which is described as a measure of metabolic or sympathetic demand. The idea is to give users a clearer picture of what the brain and body are experiencing during different activities.

For athletes, that could mean getting additional data about training stress, recovery, sleep and focus. Unlike conventional fitness trackers that mostly look at things such as heart rate or movement, Temple is aimed more directly at the brain.

The thinking behind it is that changes in the amount of blood reaching the brain can provide useful clues about fatigue, concentration and other aspects of neurological function. Researchers have traditionally studied these signals in controlled environments using large imaging machines. Temple is trying to bring that kind of monitoring into everyday life.

The device is still experimental and is not available for general purchase. Temple is currently offering early access, with the full launch expected in the coming months. Earlier, India Today reported that the wearable could cost around Rs 72,000.

Sindhu is one of India’s biggest badminton stars. She became the first Indian to win the BWF World Championships and the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals. She has also won six medals at the marquee badminton event.

Her interest in Temple also comes at a time when she is looking ahead to another Olympic campaign. In an interview with NDTV, Sindhu said she wants to compete at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and will try to ensure that her fitness and game remain strong until then.
