Qantas and multiple other airlines have been targeted in a cyber security breach, with the Australian airline now working to determine what information was obtained.
Client of Qantas, Spanish travel company Amadeus – which provides travel technology for global airlines, hire cars and hotels – was breached by an unauthorised agent, potentially accessing data about passenger reservations and booking information.
A Qantas spokesperson confirmed the incident to NewsWire, but said multiple other airlines were also impacted, including Japan Airlines, ANA, Cathay Pacific and Korean Air.
“We have been advised by global travel technology provider Amadeus that there has been unauthorised access to one of their systems,” they said.
“Amadeus advised the issue was contained in September and we’re working with them to understand the impact to any Qantas bookings.”
To date there was “no impact to Qantas systems or databases which remain secure”, the spokesperson confirmed.

Following the breach, Amadeus said there was no evidence that any payment records or financial data had been accessed.
Qantas has notified the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the Office of National Cyber Security about the incident.
NewsWire has contacted Amadeus for comment.
