A man died in Raipur after he climbed onto the bonnet of a car while trying to stop his girlfriend from leaving with another man. The incident took place in the Aamanaka police station area of the Chhattisgarh capital.
The victim, Parampreet Singh, a businessman had been in a relationship with the woman for around three to four years. Their families had also discussed and decided on their marriage, according to the information available.

Parampreet reportedly saw his girlfriend with her friend Bharat Mangnani, which led to an argument between them. The dispute took place inside Parampreet’s car. The woman later started leaving with Bharat Mangnani.
Parampreet objected to this and confronted the two. He also rammed his car into Bharat’s car. Bharat then drove the car forward.
According to the police, Parampreet climbed onto the roof of the car after the confrontation. The car travelled around 200 metres at speed before Parampreet fell onto the road. Police said the car then ran over him, causing fatal injuries.
Parampreet suffered a serious head injury and died in the incident. Passers-by informed the police, who reached the spot and took custody of the body.
Police examined the scene and reviewed CCTV footage. Based on the footage and the circumstances of the incident, police said they found prima facie indications of murder and registered a case for further investigation.
The police said a dispute between Parampreet and Bharat Mangnani had taken place before the incident and that there was an apparent attempt to hit Parampreet with the car. An investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the confrontation.
Bharat Mangnani, who was driving the car, remains absconding. Police are searching for him.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
