More than 150 people were found at an alleged rave party inside a luxury villa near Pune after police carried out a pre-dawn raid, recovering ganja, banned hookah flavours and liquor worth lakhs of rupees while probing possible violations of multiple laws.

Acting on a tip-off, Pune Police raided a bungalow in Tulapur village within the Lonikand police station limits at around 2.30 am on June 7. The operation involved 15 officers and 65 constables who surrounded the property before entering the venue.

Police said 156 people were present at the party, including 107 men and 49 women. Three of those presents were found to be below 21 years of age, raising further questions about compliance with regulations governing the event.

PARTY CONTINUED AFTER PERMIT EXPIRED

According to investigators, the organisers had obtained permission to serve liquor only until 11.30 pm on June 6. However, the gathering allegedly continued long after the permit had expired.

Additional Commissioner of Police Tejaswini Satpute said authorities are examining whether all required permissions had been obtained for the event.

“We are investigating whether the organisers had taken the necessary permissions. They had permission from the Excise Department only until 11.30 pm, but the liquor party continued even after the permission expired,” she said.

She added that police were also verifying the ages of some of those present.

“There is a possibility that some of the young men and women present were below 21 years of age, and that is being examined,” Satpute said.

GANJA, BANNED HOOKAH FLAVOURS RECOVERED

During the raid, police recovered around three grams of ganja from the premises. Three hookah pots and 10 banned hookah flavours were also seized.

Authorities said liquor worth approximately Rs 9.22 lakh was found at the venue. The total value of items seized during the operation has been estimated at around Rs 85 lakh.

The suspected narcotic substance, liquor and other seized material have been sent for examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

“We found hookah at the venue. Apart from that, a small quantity of a substance covered under the NDPS Act was recovered. Preliminary verification has confirmed the presence of a small quantity of ganja,” Satpute said.

ORGANISERS UNDER SCANNER

Police have identified Aiman Sheikh of Blaze Entertainment and Yash Chaudhary of Star Light Entertainment as the principal organisers of the event.

Investigators are also examining the role of several others linked to the gathering, including Siddhant Dhuvli and Dishant Dhuvli associated with Blaze/D Mora, as well as Mohit Wadhwani, Devyani Singh, Kajal Jain, Naman Sanghvi, Krish Mehta, Nandini and Sanjana.

Authorities are trying to establish who owned the bungalow, who authorised the event, whether all legal permissions had been secured and whether there was any connection to a larger narcotics network.

FURTHER LEGAL ACTION UNDERWAY

Police are also investigating the role of the venue provider and whether those responsible for making the property available were aware of the nature of the event.

“We are looking into the role of the person or organisation that provided the venue. We are examining whether they were aware of the event and its nature. It has become clear that the organisers violated regulations,” Satpute said.

Officials are also scrutinising the source of the liquor and whether the supplier violated any rules while providing alcohol for the gathering.

A case is being processed at Lonikand Police Station under various provisions of law. Police said further action would follow once the investigation is completed.
