Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor to increase the number of visas for students from the state and simplify H-1B visa processing, renewals and stamping to avoid delays. During a 30-minute meeting in Delhi, he also sought advance information on any changes in visa rules, according to an official release.
Reddy asked for support to ensure timely visa appointments for Telangana students going to the United States for higher education. He also requested more visa interview slots and faster processing of visa applications, while raising issues faced by professionals from Telangana working in different sectors in the US.

The chief minister and the ambassador also shared information on the safety and welfare of students from Telangana studying in the US, the release said. Reddy further highlighted investment opportunities for American companies in Telangana and said the state government was ready to partner with US firms in IT, artificial intelligence, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, start-ups, research and modern technology.
He also asked the ambassador to help build collaborations between US universities and educational institutions in Telangana. Reddy stressed the need to expand student exchange, research, innovation and skill development programmes between America and Telangana, and called for stronger cooperation in education, employment, investment, technology and research, the release said.
Highlighting that Telugu is one of the fastest-growing Indian languages in the United States, Reddy appreciated Gor for his understanding of India’s history and culture. He also praised the ambassador’s interest in Telangana’s culture, traditions, cuisine and the state’s strengths. Gor assured full cooperation in expanding trade, investment, cultural exchanges and people-to-people ties between Telangana and the US, the release added.
The development comes weeks after the Revanth Reddy government named a road in Hyderabad after US President Donald Trump. Gor had attended the unveiling of a ceremonial plaque on June 23 to mark the renaming of the road next to the US Consulate as Donald Trump Avenue.
