Royal Enfield has traditionally kept things relatively simple when it comes to technology, but the upcoming Himalayan 750 looks set to change that. The larger ADV, which was first shown at EICMA 2025 and has since been spotted testing on multiple occasions, is shaping up to be the most technologically advanced Royal Enfield yet.

We got a closer look at the motorcycle during the Himalayan 440 event in Leh, revealing several details that point towards a very different approach from the Himalayan 450. While the 450 is built with serious off-road ability in mind, the Himalayan 750 appears to be leaning more towards long-distance touring, with a stronger focus on highway performance, comfort and electronic aids.
A bigger twin-cylinder engine
At the heart of the Himalayan 750 will be a new parallel-twin engine displacing close to 750cc. The motor is understood to share its basic architecture with Royal Enfield’s existing 650cc twin, although it is expected to receive substantial changes to deliver more performance.
For reference, the most powerful version of the current 650cc engine makes 47.4hp and 56.5Nm in the Bear 650. The larger engine should comfortably exceed those figures, although Royal Enfield has not revealed its final output or specifications yet.
The exhaust arrangement also appears to have changed. Rather than the twin-exhaust design seen across most of Royal Enfield’s 650cc motorcycles, the Himalayan 750 prototype appears to use a 2-into-1-style setup similar to the Bear 650.
Royal Enfield finally adds cruise control
One of the biggest changes is the arrival of electronic rider aids. The Himalayan 750 appears to get cruise control, something that has been notably absent from the Himalayan 450.
The system has dedicated controls on the right-hand switchgear and is expected to be a conventional cruise-control setup rather than an adaptive system. For a motorcycle expected to spend considerable time covering highways, this could make the Himalayan 750 considerably more comfortable on long journeys.
Traction control is another first for a production Royal Enfield. A dedicated control on the left switchgear suggests that riders may be able to alter its intervention or switch the system off when required.
Together, these features mark a significant departure from Royal Enfield’s traditionally minimalist approach to electronics.
Adjustable suspension and bigger brakes
The Himalayan 750 also appears to bring more sophisticated hardware. The prototype uses Showa USD forks with preload adjustment, while the rear monoshock gets a convenient rotary adjuster.
It remains unclear whether this setup will be standard across the range or reserved for higher-spec versions. Royal Enfield could potentially use suspension equipment to differentiate the variants when the motorcycle eventually reaches dealerships.
Braking hardware has also been upgraded. The front wheel is flanked by twin discs with ByBre calipers, marking another first for Royal Enfield. The rear brake also uses a ByBre caliper.
The 19-inch front wheel tells an important story
Perhaps the clearest indication of the Himalayan 750’s intended character is its front wheel. The prototype uses a 19-inch front wheel, rather than the 21-inch unit fitted to the Himalayan 450.
That, combined with the alloy wheels seen on this particular prototype, suggests that Royal Enfield is developing the 750 primarily as an adventure tourer rather than a hardcore off-road motorcycle.
Interestingly, the motorcycle displayed at EICMA 2025 featured cross-spoked wheels. This leaves open the possibility of multiple variants, with a more off-road-focused version potentially getting spoked wheels and more aggressive tyres.
The prototype spotted in Leh is fitted with Vredestein Centauro XR tyres, whose tread pattern appears designed to strike a balance between road use and light off-road riding.
A new face and updated TFT
The Himalayan 750 also gets what appears to be a new LED headlight assembly. Given the criticism surrounding the illumination performance of some current Royal Enfield models, a better headlight would be a welcome upgrade for riders who regularly tour after dark.
The motorcycle uses a TFT instrument display that looks broadly related to the units seen on the Himalayan 450, Guerrilla 450 and Bear 650. However, the display was switched off when we saw the motorcycle, so details of the interface and additional functionality remain unknown.
The left-hand switchgear does appear to feature a redesigned joystick controller, which should make navigating the motorcycle’s expanded electronics easier.
The most technologically advanced Royal Enfield yet?
The Himalayan 750 could therefore represent a significant change in direction for Royal Enfield. A bigger twin-cylinder engine, cruise control, traction control, adjustable suspension, twin front discs and a potentially more sophisticated TFT would give it a feature set unlike anything else in the company’s current line-up.
More importantly, the 19-inch front wheel suggests Royal Enfield isn’t simply creating a bigger Himalayan 450. Instead, the 750 appears to be evolving into a faster, more road-focused adventure tourer — one that finally shows the brand is willing to embrace technology without completely abandoning its rugged character.
