Notorious Perth-based animal activist Tash Peterson has caused chaos outside Ascot Racecourse, shaming punters for celebrating Melbourne Cup Day.

In vision captured by PerthNow, Ms Peterson could be seen protesting beside the venue’s entry gate admonishing attendees and those in support of the day.

Dressed in rodeo-like garb, she brandished a sign bearing a horse’s face that read “Horse racing is animal slavery”.

“Shame on you! Animals want to live just like us, they feel pain and suffering,” Ms Peterson cried.

“Using them for riding, racing, entertainment, and other purposes is unethical and is animal abuse, regardless of treatment. Using them in the first place is disgusting and unethical.

“Here is where people are entering, and supporting abuse and murder.”

Protesting independently of the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses, Ms Peterson was then confronted by a security guard, which did not initially appear to deter her.

“Why do you have a problem? Speaking about the truth, speaking up for the victims,” she exclaimed.

She was later met by police.

The animal activist had been escorted away from the horse racing complex several times in the past following similar behaviour.

For several years, Ms Peterson has drawn the public’s ire following repeated attempts to confront businesses, restaurants, sporting bodies, festival shows, or individuals she deems guilty of “animal abuse”.

Her most visually alarming stunt may be her blood-stained protest at Outback Jacks in Northbridge in June 2022.

The vegan was accused of walking into the eatery in an all-white outfit splattered with fake blood, yelling at diners, “There is blood on your hands”.

Ms Peterson had also previously engaged in a heated spat with chef John Mountain of Fyre restaurant who had banned vegans from his restaurant.
