Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden drew celebrity guests, tight security and large crowds of fans in Midtown Manhattan on Friday. The black-tie event, expected to begin at 5 pm, brought together close friends and family of the pop star and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, along with several hundred other well-known guests.
The long-awaited event turned the arena, usually used for major games and concerts, into a closely guarded wedding venue. With tents and gazebos blocking much of the view, and a city permit showing the event could run until 4 am, media outlets and fans were left trying to piece together details amid heavy secrecy.

Singer Camila Cabello, actors Hugh Grant, Ethan Hawke and Jason Sudeikis, and model Karlie Kloss were among those seen arriving minutes before the expected start time. Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, Seattle Seahawks receiver Cooper Kupp, NFL announcer Joe Buck and author Jenny Han also entered the arena. An Associated Press camera outside the venue showed a long line of black SUVs dropping off guests in tuxedos and evening gowns, while New Yorkers in casual clothes and Swifties gathered nearby. By 5.30 pm, the arrivals appeared to be mostly over.
On social media, celebrities, athletes and friends posted about getting ready or leaving for the event. They included Brandon Borders, producer of the New Heights podcast hosted by Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce, retired Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Beau Allen and actor Jessica Chastain. Trucks and work crews had been moving in and out of the venue for days, carrying large amounts of material inside and fuelling further speculation over how the arena had been transformed for the wedding. Questions also remained over who might perform, who would officiate and what Swift would wear.
Outside the arena, some tourists said it was a difficult weekend to visit as they dealt with road and pavement closures, while others stopped to watch the spectacle. Police blocked most access near the guest drop-off area, though some people gathered inside nearby businesses before World Cup matches and looked out from the windows. Diana Warshavsky, who lives in New York, said she came to celebrate with fellow Swifties and “send her good vibes”. “We’re relatively the same age, I’m a year older than her and I just got married this year as well,” Warshavsky said. “I’m just so happy for her.”
The relationship between Swift and Kelce has drawn intense interest for the past three years since they started dating, especially among Swift’s fan base. Their wedding is taking place during a packed July Fourth weekend in New York, with events linked to the nation’s 250th birthday, a parade of tall ships on the Hudson River and a World Cup match in New Jersey. Earlier this week, Swift and Kelce donated USD 26 million to 20 local and national charities across the US, including organisations in Nashville, Los Angeles, Kansas City and New York, adding another major development to a weekend already centred on the couple’s closely watched wedding celebration.
