A teenager has been committed to trial over allegations he murdered multimillionaire Universal Store co-founder Greg Josephson at his home during a party.
Josephson, 58, was found dead at the Clayfield house, in Brisbane’s north, in June last year.
Emergency services attending the property had discovered a Thursday-evening party attended by dozens of teenagers.
A 15-year-old boy was charged with murder, as Josephson’s death shocked the close-knit community.
The Childrens Court has previously heard the teenager, now 16, was being assessed by a psychiatrist while in custody.
His lawyer, Kris Jahnke, previously described the case as a complex matter.
On Thursday, the teenager appeared via video link from custody for his committal hearing.
Jahnke told the court his client consented to his case being committed to the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Anne Thacker asked the teenager if he understood the charge, to which the teenager answered: “Yes, your honour.”
When asked if he wished to enter any plea, the teenager answered: “No, your honour.”
The court heard there were 104 witness statements tendered as part of the case.
Thacker committed the teenager to stand trial in the Supreme Court at a later date.
Josephson founded Universal Store in 1999 with his brother Michael, and the pair sold the company for $100 million in 2018.
Before his death, Josephson and his wife had been planning to sell their Clayfield property, worth $5 million, while shifting their focus to various business ventures on the Sunshine Coast.
