Here is an example of patience and perseverance from Telangana. A pastor in Mancherial district purchased a new Honda Activa scooter using Rs 1.23 lakh that he saved over three years by setting aside Rs 10 coins from his daily transactions.

B Ravi Joseph saved the coins left over from everyday purchases, including vegetables, groceries and other essentials. He continued the practice for three years, gradually accumulating Rs 1,23,000 — a total of 12,300 coins — with the aim of buying something useful for his family.

Joseph said his family members were initially sceptical about his unusual saving method. However, they eventually came around to the idea and supported him in achieving his goal.

The pastor already owned a motorcycle, but it had developed problems and was no longer running properly. He subsequently decided to purchase a new vehicle and use the money he had accumulated over the years to fulfil his wish.

The purchase, however, required the showroom to accept the entire amount in coins. According to the showroom manager, Joseph approached the dealership around 15 days ago to check whether it would accept Rs 10 coins as payment for the scooter.

The showroom agreed to accept the coins, the manager said.

Joseph later arrived at the showroom with Rs 1.23 lakh in Rs 10 coins and completed the purchase. He then took delivery of the Honda Activa scooter.
