A truck driver is in hospital after he became trapped after his vehicle rolled across a major freeway, bringing traffic to standstill.
the large truck rolled over on a ramp on the M80 Western Ring Road overpass in Mebourne after it struck a bollard on the bridge on Saturday morning.
Ambulance Victoria said paramedics were sent to the scene shortly before 7.30am.
Advanced Life Support paramedics attended to the 51-year-old driver on site before taking him to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Aerial footage of the incident shows the truck’s load scattered across several lanes of the freeway.
The overhead vision also shows what appears to be white sheeting spread across the freeway beneath a ramp connecting from the M80 Ring Road.
Victoria’s transport department said all city-bound lanes on the Princes Freeway leading onto the West Gate Freeway and Geelong Road were closed by the incident.
The ramp from the M80 Ring Road in the Altona-bound direction onto the Princes Freeway has also been closed to traffic.
