Deep End: The Scott Miller Story
Monday, 8pm, ABC
In the 90s, Scott Miller was one of Australian swimming’s brightest stars, his rise to the top of the sport hard won and impressive.
Competing alongside the likes of Michael Klim, Geoff Huegill and Scott Goodman, Miller set the pace, picking up a slew of World Championship medals, his success culminating in a silver medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
But just as his ascent had been rapid, so too his downfall.
In the years after, he struggled to stay on form, his life away from the pool, including his high-profile marriage to Sydney socialite and TV presenter Charlotte Dawson, making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Miller struggled to adapt to a life post-swimming, spiralling into drug addiction and an association with organised crime.
In 2008, New South Wales police executed a series of coordinated raids and Miller was charged with possessing a commercial pill press capable of producing 27,000 ecstasy tablets an hour. Then, in 2013, he was arrested for drug possession, before everything came to a head in 2021, when he was arrested and charged with masterminding a scheme to supply $2.2 million of meth, embedded in wax candles. He was sentenced to five years and six months’ jail in 2022.
This doco catches up with him post-release, charting Miller’s attempts to rebuild his life — he sits down to tell the unfiltered story of his downfall and it makes for affecting viewing.
Miller credits jail with saving his life, and in this doco — where nothing is off-limits — the ex-athlete isn’t afraid to confront his mistakes. Many will take comfort in his story, seeing parallels to their own journeys to sobriety and purpose.
This is an incredibly emotional watch, and should be compulsory viewing for anyone beginning a career as a professional sports person — do not miss this.

Creators have confirmed this will be the second-to-last season, adding there won’t be many “happy endings” for our central cast — get ready for one almighty showdown.
The Fall And Rise Of Reggie Dinkins
Wednesday, streaming on 7Plus
If you love 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, you won’t want to miss this hilarious off-beat sports mockumentary, starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe. It hails from the same creators, with Tina Fey serving as EP, and has all the hallmarks of those other silly masterpieces. Morgan plays Dinkins, a disgraced former footballer who agrees to take part in a doco directed by Radcliffe’s character, Arthur. This is the comedy double-act you didn’t know you needed — hilarious.
The Killings At Parrish Station
Wednesday, streaming on Stan

It’s been ages since I’ve been this excited about an Australian drama series — I inhaled the first three episodes, it’s THAT compelling. This paranormal thriller stars Mia Wasikowska and Xavier Samuel as Georgia and Michael, a pair of detectives investigating the grizzly murders of four scientists at a remote scientific outpost in 1987. Thirty-seven years later, a series of copycat crimes see Georgia (now played by Heather Mitchell) asking questions again. This pacey, atmospheric drama will have you absolutely hooked — top tier television.
The Bear
Friday, streaming on Disney Plus

It’s final service! The concluding season of the Emmy Award-winning series picks up a day on from the season four finale, which saw Chef Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) sensationally quit the restaurant, leaving The Bear in the hands of Sydney, Richie and Sugar. Can they keep the business afloat? With funds depleted and Uncle Jimmy looking to recoup costs, it’s not looking good. Can’t wait to see how everything turns out for everyone — will miss this sensational series.
