Two children have been rushed to hospital after they fell out of a jumping castle which was blown into the sky by a huge gust of wind at a kids party in regional Victoria.
Victoria Police said the incident occurred at a children’s party on Lower Duneed Road in Mount Duneed just before 11am.
“Two children were thrown from the jumping castle and taken to hospital by road,” a police spokeswoman said.
“A large number of other children also playing on the jumping castle at the time escaped injury.”
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said Mobile Intensive Care (MICA) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic crews arrived at the scene at around 10.55am.
“Two primary school aged children have been transported to Geelong University Hospital by road ambulance with upper body injuries in a stable condition,” the spokesperson said.
Shortly before the incident occurred, the Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning for damaging winds in the Geelong area.
“Damaging wind gusts with peak gusts in excess of 90km/h may develop, most likely in showers and thunderstorms, before conditions ease into this afternoon,” the alert reads.
Part of the safety advice includes a suggestion for people to check that loose items, such as outdoor settings like umbrellas and trampolines, are safely secured.
