A Class 10 student in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi allegedly fabricated a kidnapping story after leaving home on a motorcycle without permission, police said. The teenager reportedly made up the account to avoid being scolded by his family for taking the bike.

The incident came to light after the boy’s father, Ashish Kumar, initially approached police to report that his 15-year-old son, Prashant, had gone missing with the motorcycle. A subsequent call reporting the teenager’s alleged kidnapping triggered a police response in the district.

Prashant, a resident of Bhaddurpur village under the jurisdiction of Manjhanpur police station, had claimed that he went outside to use the toilet in the morning and found two unidentified men inside the house when he returned. He alleged that the men abducted him along with a motorcycle parked at the house, tied his hands and covered his mouth before taking him towards the Kokhraj area.

According to his initial account, he managed to escape near the Rohi Overbridge by jumping off the motorcycle as the alleged kidnappers travelled along the route.

POLICE QUESTIONING EXPOSES ALLEGED HOAX

Deputy Superintendent of Police Saurabh Sawant said the boy’s father first visited the Teva police outpost and reported that Prashant had left home on a motorcycle. Police began searching for the teenager.

At around 11.30 am, another call was received through the UP-112 emergency service, this time reporting the alleged kidnapping in the Kokhraj police station area. A police response vehicle reached the spot near Rohi Overbridge, where the caller was present with the boy and the motorcycle.

The family initially claimed that two unidentified men had kidnapped Prashant before abandoning him at the location and fleeing.

However, during questioning, the teenager allegedly admitted that he had taken the motorcycle because he was not allowed to ride it at home. He reportedly invented the kidnapping story to avoid facing his family’s anger over leaving with the vehicle without permission.
