Kannada actor Kiran Raj has clarified that he was not attacked by a lion in a viral video that has been widely shared on social media. The clip, shot while he was abroad, led to reports claiming that the animal had attacked him, but the actor said the incident has been misunderstood.
Speaking to ETimes, Kiran said he is safe and was not injured. He said the lion did not attack him and described the moment as an affectionate interaction, adding, “It was not an attack at all. The lion actually came to hug me.”

Explaining the background, Kiran said he has known the lion since it was a cub and has shared a bond with it for a long time. “I have known this lion since its cub days. I have seen it grow, and we have shared a bond for a long time. I have also shared pictures and videos with the lion earlier,” he said.
Recalling what happened, the actor said he was about to leave when the lion came towards him. “The lion had turned its face towards one side, and I was just walking away to leave the place. That’s when it came towards me and hugged me. There was no attack,” he said.

Kiran said he was disappointed by the way the video was presented after it went viral. He clarified that he was completely safe, adding that describing the incident as an attack gave people a completely different impression, while the actual context was very different.
He also said that his earlier pictures and videos with the lion show how familiar the animal is with him and offer context to the viral clip. According to the actor, the video was shot while he was training for his upcoming film, which requires a scene with the lion.
Kiran Raj is currently playing the lead role of Karna in the television show Karna. As the video continues to circulate online, the actor’s clarification has addressed the speculation around a lion attack and explained the interaction seen in the clip.
