India’s Got Latent 2 has brought Arunachal Pradesh-based influencer Chello Meme into the spotlight once again. The social media creator recently appeared on the show, where her sharp humour and an unexpected roast of host Samay Raina impressed the comedian and helped her win Rs 1 lakh. But Chello is not new to the spotlight; she first went viral in 2021 after confronting a man she alleged had touched her inappropriately at a bus terminal in Guwahati.

Who is Chelo Meme?
Chello first gained attention when she was 19 and studying Political Science. In 2021, she shared a video alleging that a man, identified as Shafikul Rehman, had repeatedly touched her inappropriately at the ISBT in Guwahati, Assam. At the time, she was travelling through Guwahati to New Delhi to attend the National Youth Parliament 2021 as Arunachal Pradesh’s representative.
When the offender tried to leave, Chello confronted him and called him out for his behaviour. In the video, the man was later seen apologising to her and others with folded hands.
The clip quickly went viral, with social media users praising Chello for speaking up and confronting the misconduct. Her appearance at the National Youth Parliament came after she had won Arunachal Pradesh’s State Youth Parliament event and earned the opportunity to represent the state at the national-level programme.
PM Modi praised her speech
Chello’s participation in the National Youth Parliament also brought her to the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the event, she spoke about the idea of a ‘self-reliant India’, or Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
PM Modi later shared a video of her speech on X and praised her enthusiasm. He wrote, “I am glad to see the passion among our youth to fulfil the dream of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Know what Chello Meme from Arunachal Pradesh has to say… I wish her the very best for her future endeavours.”
She later found another burst of popularity after revealing her unusual love for Pepsi. The influencer said she enjoyed the soft drink with almost every meal, prompting the brand to send her a gift hamper containing a sipper, a T-shirt featuring “Pepsi Paglu” and several cans of the beverage.
Before appearing on India’s Got Latent, Chello had around 77,000 followers on Instagram. Following her appearance on the show, her following has climbed to approximately 106,000, giving the Arunachal Pradesh creator another major boost in popularity.
