Zeenat Aman set the tone for the latest Love & War reveal, becoming one of the first to react after Alia Bhatt’s cabaret-themed first look from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film was unveiled. Released a day after Ranbir Kapoor’s posters from the film, Alia’s look quickly drew attention, and Zeenat’s response stood out just as fast. Alia then replied that the veteran actor had been spoken about countless times on set during the making of the film.

The exchange came as the makers continued the staggered rollout of first looks from the film, which also stars Vicky Kaushal and is now scheduled to release in cinemas on January 21, 2027.
Reacting to Alia’s look, Zeenat Aman wrote, “Well, well, SLB (Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali) has unleashed a showgirl! (sparkle and purple heart emojis).” She also shared the poster on her Instagram stories, writing, “The 70s are back and cabaret never looked this good (sic).”
Alia responded, “@thezeenataman Thank you so much, Zeenat Ma’am (yellow heart emoji) We’ve spoken about you countless times on set, so this feels extra special (sparkle emojis)”
On Friday, Alia shared a glimpse of her look from Love & War on social media. The posters showed her in a dramatic feathered headdress, a crop top and a skirt with a thigh-high slit, paired with boots. Two posters were released, and both showed her performing on stage. Her first official look introduced her character in a glamorous setting and offered a glimpse of the world Bhansali has created around her.
Zeenat Aman’s response drew added attention because she remains one of Hindi cinema’s most recognisable icons of the 1970s, particularly known for her glamorous, modern screen image and memorable cabaret performances.
Alleged video surfaces online
Shortly after Alia’s first look was unveiled, an alleged video from Love & War surfaced online and began circulating on social media. The clip was claimed to show the actor performing in a dance sequence from the film. While the performer’s face was not clearly visible, the outfit appeared similar to the one seen in Alia’s posters, leading to speculation that it could be one of the cabaret sequences featuring her.
The makers have not confirmed whether the video is genuinely from Love & War. Even so, social media users were quick to link it to Alia’s character because of its timing. One user wrote, “This clip just took me 5 business days closer to becoming a lesbian. Alia CABARET DANCER Bhatt is lethal (sic),” while another wrote, “The background dancers are so good (sic),” and another wrote, “Leak ho bhi gaya (It even leaked).”
About the film
Love & War is directed, written, produced, edited and composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. While little is officially known about the story, it is rumoured to be a love story set against the backdrop of war. Leaked looks had earlier indicated that Ranbir and Vicky play military officers.
The film has also seen several changes to its release schedule. It was initially slated to arrive around Christmas 2025 before being pushed to March 2026. The release was later postponed again, and it is now set to arrive in theatres on January 21, 2027. Further details about the project are awaited.
Love & War brings Ranbir, Alia and Vicky together for the first time in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. The project reunites Ranbir with Bhansali nearly two decades after Saawariya (2007). Bhansali is also working with Alia again after Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022). Ranbir and Vicky have previously worked together in Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju (2018), while Alia and Vicky starred together in Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi (2018). Ranbir and Alia were also seen together in Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (2022).
