Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar have arrested two wanted accused in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl after an encounter in the Chhapaar police station area.
According to police, the two accused, identified as Waleen and Salman, were injured in retaliatory firing during the encounter in the forests of Reta Nangla village on September 6. They were subsequently arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police said the accused were allegedly involved in the abduction and rape of the minor on the night of September 4. The girl had reportedly left her home to visit a temple during Janmashtami celebrations when three youths, identified as Sameer, Waleen and Salman, allegedly abducted her and took her to a room in a house. Police said Sameer allegedly raped the girl.
A case was registered in connection with the incident, and the alleged main accused, Sameer, was arrested on the same day. Waleen and Salman had remained wanted in the case.
Police said they received information on September 6 that the two wanted accused were hiding in the forests of Reta Nangla. A team from Chhapaar police reached the area and launched a search operation.
According to police, the accused opened fire at the police team during the operation. Despite being warned to surrender, they allegedly continued firing, prompting the police to retaliate. Both accused sustained gunshot injuries and were arrested.
Police said two illegal .315-bore country-made pistols, two live cartridges and two spent cartridges were recovered from the accused.
