Following the conclusion of IPL 2026, a manipulated video featuring Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi sparked widespread debate online. The clip falsely showed the youngster describing Virat Kohli as “slow” and “selfish” in response to a supposed question from commentator Harsha Bhogle about whether he aspired to become a “king” like the former India captain. However, the video was entirely fabricated.

Bhogle later addressed the controversy on social media, categorically denying any involvement. He stated that he had never asked such a question and that Sooryavanshi had never made the remarks attributed to him in the viral clip.
“There is a fake dubbed clip of me and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi doing the rounds on social media. It depicts Vaibhav as being rude and cocky. Neither was that question asked nor was there an answer like that. It is cruel and mischievous, especially towards a young kid who has been very respectful in his few interactions,” said Bhogle on X.
There are many more versions of the clip featuring Sooryavanshi and Bhogle that has been circulating on social media, with all of them depicting the boy wonder as a brash person.
KOHLI AND SOORYAVANSHI SHARE LOVELY BOND
In reality, the relationship between Kohli and Sooryavanshi has been lovely. Their bond was highlighted by a warm exchange after the IPL 2026 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. A video shared by the IPL’s official channels showed Kohli congratulating the 15-year-old with the words, “Well played, young man.” Sooryavanshi, in turn, greeted the veteran batter respectfully with folded hands.
Kohli was also full of admiration for the teenager’s exploits during the season. As Sooryavanshi walked up to collect the Orange Cap after finishing as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 776 runs, Kohli remarked to former teammate AB de Villiers, “This kid is special, he can bat.”
Kohli even signed Sooryavanshi’s cap after his knock against RCB during a match in Guwahati with a special message for him.
