Filmmaker David Dhawan celebrated his 75th birthday with friends and colleagues from the Hindi film industry, with Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan and Sajid Nadiadwala among those at the gathering. Writer-director Rumy Jafry shared pictures from the celebration on Instagram, giving fans a look at the evening.
In the pictures shared by Jafry, David Dhawan is seen posing with Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan and other guests. One image shows the group gathered around the birthday cake, with David at the centre. Salman is dressed in an all-black outfit with a cowboy hat, while Varun is seen giving his father a peck on the cheek.

Another picture shows guests around David during the cake-cutting. The post also includes a group photograph featuring Salman, David and Varun along with other members of the film fraternity. Sajid Nadiadwala was among those seen at the celebration.
Sharing the pictures, Jafry wrote, “Wishing David Sahab a very happy birthday. May you stay healthy and happy always,” while tagging Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan, Sajid Nadiadwala and others.

Varun also wished his father on Instagram and wrote, “Happy birthday to the chillest dad. 75 hard (sic).”
Career and films
David Dhawan has directed several comedies and entertainers over the years. His collaborations with Govinda included Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Saajan Chale Sasural, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Haseena Maan Jaayegi. He also directed Salman Khan in Judwaa and later worked with him again in Partner. He is also known for films such as Main Tera Hero.
His latest film is Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. Produced by Ramesh Taurani, the film released in theatres on June 12.
In an earlier conversation with ANI, David Dhawan said, “I don’t think I should do more. This might be my last film… after this, I’ll just be Varun’s father,” while alluding to health concerns.
