Kate Middleton’s brother has revealed her recent UK hiking exploits were motivated by a promise he made to the Princess of Wales while she was battling cancer in 2024.
James Middleton accompanied his sister, 44, on her Three Peaks Challenge mission, which led them to scale the tallest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales in a single day on June 28.
On Sunday, the author and animal lover shared the inspiring pact the siblings had made at a time when the mother of three’s health was in jeopardy.
“I’m so incredibly proud of my darling sister,” he wrote on social media.“Two years ago, I told you we’d climb this mountain together. We talked about climbing mountains while you were in hospital, and about the incredible healing power that nature can have for both the body and the mind.
“So it was such an honour to join you for your Three Peaks Challenge for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.”
Accompanying the message was an image of the pair embracing after the feat, as well as a family photo that featured their parents Carole and Michael Middleton, as well as Prince William, children Louis, George, Charlotte, and one of James’ pet dogs.
“Seeing how far you’ve come is nothing short of inspiring,” he continued.
“Your strength, resilience, and determination, all while being the most amazing mother, wife, daughter, and sister, inspire me and so many others every single day.
“Keep being exactly who you are.”
Princess Kate thanked followers for their support a week after the impressive hike, and directed them to support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity which raises funds for cancer treatment and research.
The Princess of Wales revealed she was in remission from cancer in January 2025.
