Police in Nedumangad announced on Sunday that a woman and her female lover had been detained in connection with the death of her one-year-old baby from her first marriage in the city.
Akhila and her companion, Ashkar, were detained after allegedly abusing the child, Arshid, and leading to his dying on May 29, according to a police officer at Nedumangad Police Station.
A post-mortem investigation revealed numerous injuries to the child’s body, which led to the arrest of both the mom and her companion, according to the police.
On May 30th, authorities reported an unnatural suicide.
According to Ashkar’s declaration to the police, Arshid instantly started coughing on May 29 at around 4:30 p.m. after drinking water and eating food and water and falling asleep. The food and water he had consumed finally came out through his mouth and nose. Following this, he became incapacitated and poor.
According to Ashkar, he transported the child by hospital to a local hospital. He was then moved to the SAT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram from where he was shifted.
Doctors determined that the kid had now passed away at around 6.08 am upon evaluation.
Killer, family detained, and brain with 50 or fewer injuries
Arshid reportedly received intense physical abuse that led to his death on May 29 after she was detained by Akhila and her companion, Ashkar.
According to the Nedumangad officers, the child’s brain contained at least 50 wounds, some of which were new and others were healed, which suggested repeated misuse over a period of time.
The investigation was launched after the toddler’s parents raised questions about the relationship between the mom and her living companion.
The child’s paternal grandmother claimed that the girl’s girl removed him from her home without any injuries, and that she had later found injuries on his body.
She further claimed that the infant had previously experienced injuries to both wings, which were explained away as a result of a fall.
She had filed a problem with the authorities, despite doubting the state.
The boy’s maternal and paternal grandfathers claimed that the child’s body had elliptical burn marks, which suggested he may have been tortured.

On May 31 Ashkar’s original mother-in-law claimed in court that he had repeatedly abused his second wife, Amina, over the course of several months.
She claimed he frequently slapped Amina on the head against the walls and, at one point, attempted to drop her from a sky lover. She spent almost a year being comatose and ill.
She claimed that Amina was already receiving treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital while she had only just begun to regain her recollection.
The couple claimed that Ashkar and Amina are still legally married and that no official divorce trials have been finished.
When police attempted to bring Ashkar to his home in Karikuzhy for data collection as part of the boy’s death investigation, tense scenes erupted in the area. A group of people reportedly attempted to attack the accused, leading to police action to control the masses.
