Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has shared a real picture of himself from the 1980s after joining the viral AI trend that has prompted almost everybody on social media to reimagine themselves in the decade.
Rijiju shared the picture on X a day after posting an AI-generated throwback clip of himself. In the real photograph, Rijiju is seen wearing a leather jacket over a shirt and trousers, striking a smart pose.

“Everyone’s asking the ChatGPT what they would’ve looked like in the ’80s. I have decided to go short cut. No AI and No ChatGPT. This is real me in ’80s,” Rijiju said in the caption of his post.
The picture came after Rijiju had shared a short clip featuring an AI-generated version of himself dressed in an ’80s-inspired outfit.
In the clip, he was seen wearing a blue shirt and trousers with a grey blazer and sunglasses while posing against a car.
The 80s AI trend has gained popularity on social media, with users turning to tools such as ChatGPT to create images and videos of themselves as if they were living in the 1980s. The AI-generated posts often recreate the decade’s distinctive fashion, hairstyles, poses and photography styles.
