Newly surfaced police files have reportedly offered a closer look at the former One Direction singer Liam Payne’s final hours, including photographs showing him drinking at his Buenos Aires hotel and meeting two sex workers before his death. According to the Daily Mail, more than 3,000 documents and photographs from the investigation have emerged, detailing Payne’s movements at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in the hours before he fell from a third-floor balcony on October 16, 2024.
Payne was 31 when he died. The newly reported material reportedly includes photographs of him drinking at the hotel, as well as images of hotel employees bringing alcohol to his room.
One photograph allegedly shows Payne swinging around a pole on the night before his death. Images from the following day reportedly show him meeting two women in the hotel lobby.
According to the Daily Mail, the women later told investigators that Payne sang songs for them and asked about obtaining cocaine. He also allegedly asked for help making crack cocaine.
What happened in Liam Payne’s final hours?
Prosecutors had previously said that Payne consumed significant amounts of alcohol and cocaine during his final day and spent time with two women.
Concerns about his condition reportedly escalated later that day. Hotel staff are said to have carried Payne from the lobby back to his room after his behaviour became increasingly concerning.
An employee subsequently called emergency services and reportedly warned that Payne could harm himself, while also telling them that his room had access to a balcony.
Payne later fell approximately 46 feet from the third-floor balcony. Investigators subsequently said he may have been attempting to leave the hotel when he fell.
Toxicology tests found cocaine, crack cocaine, ketamine and alcohol in his system.
Payne had travelled to Argentina 16 days before his death while waiting for his US visa to be renewed. During the earlier part of the trip, he spent time with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, and businessman Rogelio “Roger” Nores.
The newly reported documents and photographs provide further details about Payne’s movements inside the Buenos Aires hotel and the events leading up to his death.
