JioHotstar and Prime Focus Studios have joined hands to release the mythological epic digitally in India. After its theatrical window, the film will be offered on JioHotstar through a dedicated on-demand purchase option.

The arrangement differs from a regular subscription-based OTT release. Even existing subscribers will be offered the film as a separate pay-per-view purchase under the announced model. The digital release date and access price have not yet been announced.

A two-part adaptation

Produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash‘s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana has been conceived as a two-part cinematic event. Shridhar Raghavan has adapted the screenplay from Valmiki’s epic.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita. Yash takes on the role of Ravana, with Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The ensemble cast also includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Anupam Kher, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor and Kajal Aggarwal.

The film features music by Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman. Ravi Bansal and Ramsey Avery have handled the production design, while Terry Notary and Guy Norris are associated with the action sequences.

The first instalment is expected to explore the beginning of Rama’s journey, with the wider story unfolding across both films. Ramayana: Part Two is scheduled for release during Diwali 2027. Ranbir Kapoor has said that about 50 per cent of the sequel had already been filmed earlier this year.
