One pilgrim was killed, and seven others were seriously injured after an uncontrolled Scorpio rammed into a group of pilgrims on the Himmatnagar-Idar State Highway in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district.
The accident took place near Dolgarh in Himmatnagar, where the pilgrims were walking towards Ambaji. The impact was so severe that all eight pilgrims were thrown several feet into the air, according to eyewitnesses.

SCORPIO ENTERS PILGRIM-ONLY CORRIDOR
The administration had declared the highway between Himmatnagar and Kheroj one-way to ensure the safety of pilgrims travelling to Ambaji. One side of the road had been reserved exclusively for pedestrians, while vehicles were allowed on the other side.
However, near Dolgarh, the Scorpio allegedly entered the corridor meant for the pilgrims and hit the group. The collision triggered panic at the spot, with several people sustaining serious injuries.
ANGRY CROWD SETS CAR ON FIRE
Soon after the crash, an angry crowd gathered at the spot and set the Scorpio on fire. Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene after being alerted about the accident and brought the fire under control.
The injured pilgrims were taken to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital for treatment, where authorities said several of them were in critical condition.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and the scenario in which the Scorpio entered the pedestrian corridor.
