In connection with the alleged unlawful deer meat investing operation near Nevatthur Aanekere in Hosanagar taluk, two people were detained by Shivamogga’s smart squad.
Ningappa and Ramappa, both of whom are currently under Baluru Gram Panchayat’s control, have been identified as the arrested people from Nevatthur Aanekere. Following certain details regarding the alleged purchase of animal flesh in the area, the action was taken.
A group led by PSI Vinayak K. acted on the knowledge and carried out a surprise attack close to Aanekere. The accused were supposedly found deer carcasses and meat in their hands during the activity.
During the assault, the Forest Department seized 34.945 kilograms of animal bones and flesh. As part of the research into the alleged illegal wildlife flesh industry, the seized items have been taken into custody.
Police officers Anjaneya Patil, Ganesh, Chandrakant, and Mahesh participated in the activity while PSI Vinayak K. Mahesh, Doddamani, and Pramodini assisted the team in identifying and preventing the reported illegal activity.
The office is looking into the origin of the deer and the circumstances surrounding the alleged sale of the beef. Based on the findings of the research, additional steps will be taken.
Previous Karnataka Home Minister and BJP MLA Araga Jnanendra has urged the police to take a rigorous stand against the unlawful carriage of animals and related crimes in the Shivamogga area.
In a press conference, Jnanendra alleged that parts of the Thirthahalli district were staging improper cattle transport and engaging in activities that promoted it. He exhorted the police force to be competent and diligent against those responsible.
