Hyderabad: On Saturday, September 12, the Telangana Legislative Assembly approved a bill that would allow the Congress government to implement its plan to” contend with the earth” in the city.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955, which was originally known as the Hyderabad Municipal Corporations Act, 1955, is replaced by the 2026 Core Urban Region ( Integrated Governance ) Bill.
The area has been benefited by the legislation from 1955. Hyderabad in 2047 has been the subject of the novel CURE policy. Our government is determined to create a contemporary Deccan that can compete with other cities around the world. That is the Telangana Rising 2047 perspective of the government. The primary goal of the CURE Bill, 2026, is that, according to State Industries and Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu, who moved the legislation.
Important industrial measures are included in the Bill, including property taxes and business facilitation. A cash value-based property tax is proposed.
Additionally, it recommends a CURE Traffic Management and Road Safety Authority, a CURE Disaster Management Authority, and a CURE Disaster Management Authority.
Digital Governance Framework
The Bill establishes a digital governance model that requires mandatory data sharing and connectivity, a second site for services and approvals, a single bill for property taxes, water, sewer, and sanitation, as well as a CURE Smart Governance Center for real-time checking and coordinated response.
A small city with between 10 and 15 million residents, whose political needs were largely confined to streets, markets, drains, and the prevention of epidemics, was established as the 1955 Act.
According to Babu, the population in the state’s Core Urban Region ( CURE), which includes the Firms of Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri, has increased by almost 12 times to almost 1.30 billion, or roughly a third of the country’s population.
CURE is a term for Telangana Rising Vision 2047.
CURE serves as the engine of the state’s transition to a one trillion dollar economy by 2034 and a three trillion dollar economy by 2047, and it also accounts for the majority of the state’s Gross State Domestic Product of Rs 17.82 lakh crore ( 20225-26 ).
The 1955 Act also contains useless provisions, such as the taxes tax and series, taxes on cars, boats, and other animals, and a duty on dogs.
Babu claimed that the government even considered the opinions of political parties, business representatives, and volunteer organizations, and that 70 changes were made to the draft.
Another MLAs, including BJP MLA Palvai Harish Babu, AIMIM floor head Akbaruddin Owaisi, and another long-serving members of the Bill, submitted amendments and ideas.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar announced the Bill’s passing after the minister responded.
